Synopsis: The film tells the real story of the Jiu Bridge Battle, which took place on 14th October 1916 – a crucial piece of the World War I history, when a handful of locals, old men, women and children – the only ones left there after the retreat of the Romanian Army towards Bucharest – managed to defend their town and stop the German advance on the Jiu Valley. If it hadn’t been for the heroic acts of these fearless patriots, the German army would have crossed the Jiu Bridge, taken over the local train station, stopped the retreat of the Romanian army and urged it to surrender arms.
