Our film Scurtcircuit/ Fault Condition, directed by Cătălin Saizescu, has won the Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement at the Shanghai International Film Festival 2017.
The film, the first Romanian one to be selected in the event’s official competition, was awarded for “the courage to touch upon delicate contemporary dramas and the ability to combine different perspectives on the same truth.”
Fault Condition was inspired by the event from August 2010, when several newborns died in a fire at the intensive neonatology care unit of the Giulesti maternity hospital in Bucharest. The film tells the story of two teenagers caught in the events.
It stars Oana Ștefănescu, Magda Catone, Maruca Băiașu, Manuel Nicolae, Georgiana Saizescu, Dorel Vișan, Ionel Mihăilescu, Take Florescu, Adrian Văncică, Nicodim Ungureanu, Paula Chirilă, Valentin Popescu, Maia Morgenstern, Claudiu Bleonț, Doru Ana, Andras Demeter, Gabriel Spahiu, George Ivașcu.
The film will be released in local cinemas this fall.
